Final Round Stebbings Car Superstore & Rackhams Auto Body Centre Eastern Region Motocross Championship
Cadders Hill, Lyng, Norfolk – Sunday September 13th

The Norwich Vikings Motorcycle Club host the final round of the Eastern Region Motocross Championship at the tough Cadders Hill circuit at Lyng, near Dereham on Sunday September 13th. And with a capacity 200 riders entered it promises to be a spectacular finale to a highly competitive season.

Heading up the Expert class is British Championship frontrunner Tom Grimshaw on the Apico Honda. The Herefordshire based rider will be favourite to ride away with the title as he enjoys a healthy 39 point advantage at the top of the standings, but anyone who knows anything about motocross is aware that the Norfolk venue can catch out the very best and one mistake could see the title challenge wide open. One rider who will be aiming to make the most of that opportunity is second place in the series, Max Broadbelt on his 450cc Honda. There are 75 points on offer at the final round over three races and the young hotshot from Wymondham will no doubt be keen to grab the accolades in front of his family and supporters on his local track. KTM mounted Travis Steels can overhaul Broadbelt for the runner up position, and Long Stratton’s Bayliss Utting, who cites Lyng as one of his favourite circuits, has an outside chance of stealing the final podium position at the end of the day.

In the Junior class, which sees the young up and coming riders aiming to make the step up to the Expert class next season, Craig Down has enjoyed a near faultless campaign and has already wrapped up the crown on his 350cc Husqvarna. Similarly, Yamaha rider Caden Tomlin is virtually safe in the runners up spot, and only requires to secure 4 points to head off any late threat from the hard charging Tyrone Tugwell on his Kawasaki.

Action gets underway at Lyng with practice and qualifying at 9am. The first championship race is due to start at 11am. Admission is £10, with accompanied children Under 15 years old, free. The Cadders Hill circuit is situated one mile from the A1067 Norwich to Fakenham Road, or three miles from the A47 Norwich to King’s Lynn Road; post code NR9 5QZ
