Cadders Hill Information

History

Cadders Hill, Lyng is a natural hillside motocross circuit, primarily sand based, without too many man made obstacles. It is nonetheless a spectacular, physically demanding motocross venue that has witnessed many titanic battles for championship points. The Norwich Viking MCC team is constantly updating facilities for both riders and spectators.

The Norwich Vikings have been organizing motorcycle events at the Cadders Hill venue since 1936. Originally the venue was used for hillclimbs. After the war they ran what were known as mountain grasstracks until the circuit became too rough and from 1949 onwards they switched to scrambles. Former Club President, Dennis Slaughter MBE, started competing there in 1948 and was involved in one capacity or another up until his last visit in October 2019, two months before he passed away.

Lyng was one of the venues for the Grandstand Television Trophy scrambles in the late 60s; it also hosted a 125cc Grand Prix in 1993 and has been running British Championship events for over 35 years.

Location

The Cadders Hill track is situated one mile from the A1067 Norwich to Fakenham Road, or three miles from the A47 Norwich to King’s Lynn Road and is signposted from these major roads on the day of the event.
